​The Department of Education and Training (DET) has a state-wide Year 6 to Year 7 timeline and processes for enrolment at a secondary school. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Year 7 at a Victorian government secondary school.

Key Dates

• Term 1 Secondary Schools will be offering information sessions, open nights and school tours. Please see their school websites for more information.

• By Wednesday 22nd April - Placement information packs will be distributed by Aspendale Gardens PS to our current Year 6 parents.

• Friday 8th May – Parents / carers must return the application for Year 7 placement form to Aspendale Gardens PS before this date.

• Wednesday 24th June – Primary schools notify parents / carers of Year 6 students, in writing, of their child’s Year 7 placement offer for 2027 school year. 

• Following this, the secondary schools will send out further information and documentation to students who have been allocated a place.

• Friday 17th July – Closing date for parents / carers to lodge a written non-placement appeal with their preferred secondary school (if necessary).

• By Tuesday 11th August - Parents/carers return their Year 7 Placement Acceptance Slip to their child’s primary school.

• Tuesday 8th December – Statewide Orientation Day for Year 6 students attending Government secondary schools.

 

We encourage our parents / carers to visit the secondary schools for tours and open day events in Term 1. This will allow parents / carers to look at the options and make an informed decision before Friday 8th May deadline.
